What we offer
We offer an excellent, teacher led, early education for 2, 3 and 4 year olds during term time. We use our in depth knowledge of child development to weave a programme of learning that is shaped by the children and what they need to know next.
If you would like your child to join us at Wyndham Park Nursery School, then please complete the registering for a place form for 2 year olds or 3 & 4 year olds.
Our Classes
We currently have three different classes at Wyndham Park Nursery School.
Since adding a two year old class to the nursery school a few years ago, we have found it less disruptive to divide the classes by their school year groups rather than just by age. This means that children do not have to join a new class as soon as they turn 3, they stay with their peers in the same groups until they leave for primary school.
Our classes are:
· Explorers - 2 year olds
· Investigators - 2 & 3 year olds
· Adventurers - 3 & 4 year olds
Some 2 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free early years education (find out more here). If you are not entitled to a funded two year old place we do offer fee paying places in the 2-year-old class at £6.00 per hour.
Our two-year-old room has several session choices. Children can attend mornings (8.30am-11.30am) or full days (8.30am-2.30pm). Full day children will need to bring a packed lunch. Two year olds can now also use our Breakfast Club (7.30am -8.30am) and Afterschool club sessions (2.30-6pm).
All 3 & 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours per week over 38 weeks (and some children are entitled to 30 hours) from the term following their 3rd birthday until they reach compulsory school age (the beginning of the term following their 5th birthday).
This means that if their birthday is during the period April to August they would access their free funded sessions from the following September; if their birthday is during the period September to December they can access their free funded sessions from the following January (or wait until the following September); and if born during the period January to March they would access their free funded sessions after the Easter break in April (or wait until the following September).
We have open days throughout the year when you can come and look around and see our Nursery in action. Don't worry if the dates of these are not convenient to you, just get in touch with us by phone or email and we will arrange a time to show you around that suits you.
We offer a flexible ‘pick and mix’ option in all of our rooms (depending on availability). This will mean that you will be able to select from the sessions provided to suit the needs of you and your family. As we are a school, we do ask that you do fully commit the entirety of your child’s 15 or 30-hour funding to us; we are unable to split these core hours with other settings or providers.
We also ask that the attendance pattern you choose is set for a full term; it is unable to be changed (apart from additional paid for sessions that have always been available to be booked on a weekly basis). You can use your child’s 15 or 30-hour funding to access breakfast and after school club or if you wish you can ‘top-up’ and add any additional sessions on to your ‘core’ offer at the cost of £6.00 per hour.
Please use the grid below to help plan how you would like your child to access the 15 or 30 hours. For example, if your child was entitled to 15 hours you could choose to attend 5 x Morning or you might choose 2 x All Day Sessions each of which to be followed by 3 hours of After School clubs.
If you want to go over your allocated 15 or 30-hours then that is absolutely fine. Any additional sessions are charged at £6 per hour and these can be paid for with childcare vouchers, via tax-free childcare or by cash or card. You can either request additional sessions now or simply book in on a weekly basis via our booking system once you start at nursery.
Please note that as we are a school we are only open during the term time and we close during school holidays.

Stay and Play Sessions
Once you have been advised that your child has been allocated a place at our school you will be invited to a stay and play session. This is a chance for you and your child to spend sometime in Nursery together exploring the space and meeting the staff.
Starting Nursery School
The children are admitted in small groups. This gives us an opportunity to get to know all the children individually. Your key worker will take responsibility for settling your child into nursery and will maintain an overview of their development during the time they are with us.
You are welcome to stay for as long as you want to help your child settle into nursery. It is important that your child is given the opportunity to establish and develop good relationships with other children and adults. Your child’s regular attendance is essential to ensure they gain the maximum benefit from nursery education.
Getting to know you
We believe that parents and nursery staff share a joint interest in and responsibility for your child’s development and learning. You are the experts where your child is concerned and you know of any special interests and needs. Therefore, a good relationship between parents/carers and school staff is vital to share information.
Parents are encouraged to talk to staff if they have any concerns. All parent/carers are welcome to spend time in the nursery, helping in the classrooms, on visits out of nursery or by using their skills to benefit the nursery in other ways.
